Providence
Journal of Spain
January 2, 2003
One positive aspect of our meeting with Keith last month, was that he did give us the name of someone who had lived in Spain for 6 months and served with the ministry in Barcelona. His name is Chris. He was on our list of people to contact. Contact was made – by Divine intervention . . .
Tonight we were hanging out at Urban Mill when a guy came up and asked Samuel a question about howto do a computer application – he was talking to someone on his cell phone explaining it to him.
For some reason I had the feeling that he might be Chris – I knew he looked familiar as I had seen him around church, and even saw a picture of him there too.
So I asked him, of course he was taken aback by the question, but I was right! I told him we go to Mars, that we plan to move to Spain and that Keith had given us his name. Wow – Providence!
He gave us some good info about the ministry and tourist visas. Regarding the Visas: when leaving the country every 3 months, it must be to go to a non-EU country such as Morrocco, Switzerland, or England. However, when he entered Spain, no one stamped his passport, and so, in fact he could have stayed
indefinitely since there was no way to prove when he had arrived. He said that as an American he really didn’t have any problems with it. He said that most of the people who came to visit there did not get their passports stamped.
And as for the ministry: it is affiliated with YWAM. It is called “The Bridge” in reference to “bridging the gap” between Morrocco and Spain. It is a language school for Arabs and does require discreetness.
As we continued to talk we learned that he is in a similar line of work as Samuel, and runs a business out of a home with 2 other friends. We asked if he was looking for office space. He said yes, then brought one of his partners over. Samuel told him about his office, and what he is looking for: occupants to pay the rent and utilities with use of his furniture with the promise that he could reclaim the space when we come back if he desires.
I am excited by this! It’s what I’ve been praying for – we need someone to take over the office! This could work out so great! Part of me wonders “just coincidence? Don’t get your hopes up?” But wow! What a “coincidence” how random! So random that I believe that it was God at work! What a perfect set-up!
We’ll just have to wait and see.
