Dinner at San Marcos
Last week our friend Helen’s parents were visiting from California and invited our community out to dinner. We discovered the very “old” part of Sevilla known as Santa Cruz. I was amazed at how beautiful and charming it was as we passed through the very narrow, cobblestone streets. Cars could not pass through, and it was truly a maze – yet despite it’s difficult and confusing passage we came across several bars, restaurants, shops and a museum on our way to the restaurant. It felt like a Spanish street scene one might encounter at Epcot Center – but it was the real deal!
We found the restaurant and proceeded down the few stairs at the entrance through beautifully carved walls and archways. We learned that this was once a site of Arab baths, now a charming Italian restaurant (and even better, a non-smoking one at that!). The atmosphere, company and food were wonderful and we enjoyed being treated once again!
It was also a multi-lingual gathering as we heard not only English and Spanish, but Mandarin as well! See the latest gallery album for a few pictures.
(Sorry Mom and Dad, I didn’t get any better shots of the restaurant – we were busy trying to keep Josiah from playing with the candle-lit lanterns on the floor when we entered! But we’ll have to go there when you come to visit us again someday!)
