35 Weeks
35 weeks is notable for me, because it was at 35 weeks and 2 days that Josiah was born.
Thankfully everythingis much different this time! Isabela continues to move a lot! Samuel enjoyed feeling her kickboxing the other night for a good 15 minutes.
My health remains good and I am very thankful for that. I do get little bouts of nervousness sometimes, like when I feel a slight headache, or when a few days ago I threw up everything I had just eaten for lunch! It just came out of the blue – I was sitting at the table after finishing lunch and suddenly felt the need to vomit – and did I ever! There was no nausea or stomach ache involved, and I felt completely fine after my stomach was emptied. Maybe I was just over-full?
I did have one BP reading last night of 109/81 which startled me, it’s usually about 100-110/60-70. But after relaxing for a few minutes it was down again. We had been walking for awhile in the heat and I was quite tired when I first took it.
I’ll be doing lab tests on Monday or Tuesday (7/14 or 7/15) including a 24º urine collection to check for protein, and blood tests to check the liver, kidneys, and platelets among other things. I should have those results by the end of the week.
I’ve been in major nesting mode this past week or so. I made a quilt for Isabela, and a bassinet out of a laundry basket and foam with matching sheets. I’ve washed her clothes and blankets, organized them on the shelves, bought a pack of diapers, sterilized the breast pump and bottles, bought her first stuffed animal (a little bunny from IKEA), and have stocked up on washcloths, Chux pads, etc.
Yesterday I indulged in a wonderful massage by an American named Judy! We met Judy, a massage therapist, last summer when she and Samuel were in Spanish class together. She was wonderful! Very calming, relaxing and caring; and very reasonably priced (about 1/2 of what I’d pay in the U.S.). I had decided that if I liked how the appointment went, I would ask if she would attend my birth (she had told me that several years ago she had started a Doula program, but the instructor had to cancel the rest of the course). She was surprised and honored by my request – and very excited to participate! Nothing helps me relax more than a good massage!
We’re getting ready and looking forward to the big day!
