Josiah has reached a notable milestone: no more diapers! And on Tuesday, we took a trip to IKEA to celebrate (it’s air conditioned, included a bus ride and a taxi ride, has a restaurant with 1€ kids’ meal, and lots of cool toys and furniture to play with, plus we brought Mara with us, so it was an extra special treat).

He’s been doing very well staying dry all day, and at night, too; so we’ve decided on no more diapers!
He’s been tracking his progress for a couple of months now, our latest tracking method was a “earn 10 ‘keep dry’ stickers, get a prize!” He loved waking up dry or having stayed dry for the morning or afternoon and proudly announcing, “A sticker and a treat!”

The past month he’s done really well, and although there are still the occasional accidents, I’d rather wash a few extra undies or sheets than spend more money on diapers.

He especially likes being able to pee on the trees, like “the big kids do.” And when we’re out or at the park, he’ll take the initiative to run up to a tree or bush, pull down his pants a little and pee away. I did have to discourage him the other day when we were on the roof and he decided to pee on one of the air conditioning fans up there in absence of trees – I also had to hold myself back from laughing at the site

So we will enjoy the next several weeks without diapers. . . until we start over with Isabela
