Thankful
Every day I thank God for our home. It is so great to finally have our own place again after over three years of sharing the homes of others!
I was thinking today of many things I’m thankful for in regards to our apartment:
1) The location is ideal. We have two grocery stores just below us and a fruit/vegetable store literally around the corner (it’s better to buy fruits and vegies here, they are better and fresher); we are close to many bus stops and lots of other useful shops (like the equivalent of a dollar store – though things do cost more than 1 €). We are also right across the street from the medical school and there is a hospital on the other side of that. And then there are the parks – two of them! One we found last week just a couple of blocks away has baby swings and a baby-size slide which Josiah loves! And we’re very close to the river that has a nice path next to it on which I can run. And we are just a 15 minute walk from our friends!
2) The apartment is also very nice. It doesn’t feel as small as it did at first. It feels quite spacious with everything put away now. We’ve gone out to enjoy the patio a couple of times. Samuel and Josiah had fun chasing a ball around there last night while I made dinner. I like the size because it forces us to limit what we fill it with.
3) Neighbors. Samuel and Josiah met two neighbors a couple of days ago. One came to borrow a lighter, and the other came to return it. I wasn’t presentable so I stayed out of view, but they sounded nice. We also know that there are several other kids Josiah’s age around and have caught a glimpse of one down the hallway.
There are so many other things I could point out about how great our home is, but I’ll leave it at that for now. One of these days I’ll manage to get more photos up of our home!
The only downside right now is that we don’t have a phone line yet, and therefore aren’t able to order DSL yet. Hopefully within the next month we’ll be online!
